Cunha tropical island human-experimentation-gone-wrong horror thriller ("From beauty to Beast!"; "Re-Created"; "Half Beast"; "Half Woman"; about a demented mad ex-Nazi scientist and his storm troopers who experiment on beautiful women, trying to cure his wife, who is horribly disfigured) starring Irish McCalla, Tod Griffin, Victor Sen Yung, Rudolph Anders, and Gene Roth NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this half-sheet, and only one in the last 15 years! Also, note that there are several 1950s and early 1960s horror/sci-fi titles where they pictured sexy women in revealing outfits, and sometimes those outfits were just too revealing for certain countries or parts of the U.S., and the theaters or poster exchanges would hire people to paint over part of the girl's body to give them more clothing! In the case of THIS poster, it is the chest of the woman at left that was painted over. Depending on how you look at it, this is either a big detraction or a cool addition to the poster, showing how wild the censorship was at this time. Film distributor "Astor Pictures" primarily distributed re-releases of major studios in the late 1940s and 1950s, but they DID produce a few of their own movies, including this one. This is the first release of this movie, and it NOT a re-release! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair to good. The poster has tiny paper loss at lower center in the blank border and a tear at upper center that has been repaired with tape from the back, and censor paint on the woman at left (see the Important Added Info section above).
