Note that this movie was intended to be such a definitive rendering of the novel that it was over 3 hours long, which required that it be released in France and Italy in two parts! This is Part I of the movie (apparently, only Part II was released in the U.S., which seems like it would have been quite confusing for U.S. viewers!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
