An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Mitzi Gaynor (born Francesca Marlene de Czanyi von Gerber) was a mostly musical actress from the 1950s to the 1960s. Her mother was a dancer, and her father was a violinist and music director, and she definitely inherited all their talent! She moved to Hollywood when she was 11 and devoted herself to dancing and by 13, she was singing and dancing with the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera. At 17, she lied about her age and signed a 7 year contract with 20th Century-Fox. Some of her movies include: South Pacific, There's No Business Like Show Business, Les Girls, We're Not Married!, and The Joker Is Wild. In the mid 1950s, she stopped making movies and performed a lot on television, on awards shows, and also had a nightclub variety act. In the 1960s, she became a featured columnist for The Hollywood Reporter and had a stage show called The Mitzi Gaynor Show from the 1970s to the 1980s. In 2006, her husband of 52 years passed away, and Mitzi passed away in 2024 at the age of 93 Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Mitzi Gaynor! About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 37 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of these 38 autographed items we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic!
