The Beloved Rogue, the 1927 Alan Crosland silent France romantic adventure thriller (set in the 15th century; about the famous French poet, Francois Villon, who was also a scoundrel, but a fierce patriot; he lived in the middle 1400s, but how much of the literary character is taken from real life is very hard to know; the character was also portrayed in "If I Were King" in both 1920 and 1938, the latter with Ronald Colman in the role; Villon is a combination of Cyrano de Bergerac, Robin Hood, D'Artagnan, and Zorro rolled into one!) starring John Barrymore (in the title role as Francois Villon), Conrad Veidt, Marceline Day, Dick Sutherland, Dickie Moore (in his very first movie at 2 years old!), and Angelo Rossitto (as Beppo the Dwarf) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
