Jaws 2, the 1978 Jeannot Szwarc man-eating Great White shark attack horror sequel ("...May be too Intense for younger children"; "All New"; "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water..."; "Written by Carl Gottlieb and Howard Sackler"; "Based on characters created by Peter Benchley") starring Roy Scheider, Lorraine Gary, Murray Hamilton, Joseph Mascolo, Jeffrey Kramer, Collin Wilcox Paxton, and Cindy Grover (as the girl swimmer in the close encounter with the shark). Note that Steven Spielberg, who had directed the original Jaws, did not return to direct this sequel, and he later stated that it was because of the horrendous problems they had in filming the first movie (particularly in making the mechanical shark, Bruce, work), and he was afraid to possibly repeat that experience! Also note that the above was not the only problem that this movie had! It started production with director John D. Hancock and co-screenwriter Dorothy Tristan (who was Hancock's wife), and they worked on the movie for 18 months and filmed for one month, and then both were fired! It is not exactly clear what happened, but part of the problem was that Hancock did not want to give Lorraine Gary a bigger role, and her husband was co-producer Sid Sheinberg's wife. There also was an incident with an unnamed actress that Hancock fired, and then it turned out she was the girlfriend of an MCA executive! Also, Sheinberg had wanted to start the film with Amity being a near ghost town (because of the events of the first movie), but it was being shot in Martha's Vineyard, and the residents refused to have their stores boarded over, even temporarily, so that had to be scrapped! Finally, the movie was completely rewritten and reshot with a new director and screenplay, and only two scenes from the Hancock version remain in the movie, the scene with the shark fin at the start of the movie, and the parasailing scene, because those would have been very expensive to reshoot!

Important Added Info: Note that this is a teaser one-sheet (note the lack of credits at the bottom of the poster). Also note that there were three different teaser posters for this movie! All three have the same exact image, but two of them are completely the same exact that one has the date it was coming to theaters and the other does not. The third one also has the same image, but because when people saw the first one, some thought it meant that the original "Jaws" movie was returning for a re-release, a third teaser was made which has a big rectangular "ALL NEW" box above the title (this has happened several times over the years with sequel movies, most notably with "Tarzan & His Mate" in 1934, which had virtually the same "ALL NEW" box!). This auction is for the teaser with the "ALL NEW".

Note that all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I of eMoviePoster.com's December Major Auction were consigned to us by legendary French dealer/collector Dominique Besson.

Dominique Besson started collecting movie posters in 1981, and became a dealer in French and European posters in 1994, and has remained as a top dealer ever since!

But in addition, 30 years ago, Dominique began collecting U.S. one-sheets, first those with Saul Bass art, and then adding Alfred Hitchcock posters, then Humphrey Bogart, and he finally ended up collecting in an amazing total of 47 different categories, purchasing the posters from all over the world!

Now the time has come to sell this wonderful collection, and Dominique has chosen eMoviePoster.com to do so, through our auctions!

As noted above, all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I come from this more remarkable collection (the 28 that do not were consigned to us by other collectors, and are clearly marked).

This is not all of the Dominique Besson collection we are auctioning. In addition, there are approximately 200 more folded one-sheets that will be in Part IV of this special auction (ones from the 1970s to present), and there are approximately 100 unfolded one-sheets that will be in Part III (including many great ones).

This is a very rare opportunity to purchase folded one-sheets (all of which have had no professional restoration) from one of the greatest one-sheet collections assembled!
