An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Uneasy Three, the 1925 Leo McCarey crime comedy short ("The Uneasy Three - amateur crooks about to pull off their first job."; written and produced by Hal Roach; a spoof of Lon Chaney's silent version of "The Unholy 3", about a dimwitted trio of thieves who impersonate musicians to play at society events, so they can steal jewels from the attendees) starring Charley Chase (primarily remembered as a great silent comedian who appeared in 276 movies, most of them comedy shorts, Chase also directed 140 comedy shorts), Katherine Grant, Bull Montana, Fred Kelsey, and Olive Borden. Note that at this time Hal Roach was producing a huge volume of comedy shorts, and he would normally create a one-sheet and three-sheet for each individual short, but would also create a stock poster showing a stone litho image of members of a movie audience laughing, above the tagline that read "Hal Roach presents", with a large blank space below that, and "Pathecomedy" printed below that. Then these stock posters would be overprinted with the names of specific Hal Roach shorts, and frugal theater owners could order these stock posters at a discount to the price of the individual poster for that short. This particular stock one-sheet was overprinted with the title and credit for "Uneasy Three" (and we don't know if there ever was an individual one-sheet produced for The Uneasy Three). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet and a few lobby cards from this movie, and NO other movie paper, until we received this still! Condition: very good. Someone at the studio hand painted all the white lettering on the still, so the poster designers would know how to print the text over the artwork. This is not a traditional "defect", but we will let the bidders decide if this is a cool addition or a detraction. Other than the lettering, the still is in pretty nice condition, with minor wear around the edges. Learn More about condition grades
