An Undated (probably 1970s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded French "Affiche" Movie Poster (23x32; measures 23 3/4" x 31 1/2" [60 x 80 cm]) (Learn More) Belle de Jour (released in the U.S. in 1968 as "Belle De Jour [Beauty of the Day]" and "Belle De Jour [Belle of the Day]"), the classic 1967 Luis Bunuel French/Italian erotic prostitute-with-marital-problems romantic melodrama ("Belle de Jour - Beauty of the Day"; "Luis Bunuel's Masterpiece of Erotica!"; "Based on the famous novel by Joseph Kessel of the French Academy"; "Winner Best Picture Venice Film Festival") starring Catherine Deneuve (in the title role as Severine Serizy/Belle de Jour), Jean Sorel, Michel Piccoli, Genevieve Page, Pierre Clementi, Francisco Rabal, Francoise Fabian, Macha Meril, Muni, Georges Marchal, and Francis Blanche NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Rene Ferracci Important Added Info: Note that there is controversy about this poster! One of the greatest French experts tells us that this poster is from the first French release, and that there is a very similar poster with "VALORIA FILMS" at bottom right that is from after that (and that there is a third poster that lacks the Valoria Film and the "INTERDIT AUX MOINS DE 18 ANS" that is R70s. Other French experts tell us the opposite information on the first two posters, and the one with "VALORIA FILMS" is the first release, and that the one without it is from after that. We have sold five of these posters in the past, and three were the "VALORIA FILMS" version, and three were the version without it (we have checked other auction histories on the Internet and see that the same is true of other auctions). We are listing this as the first release, but we want anyone bidding on it to know about this controversy, and to do their own research on it (and bid or not bid on this poster knowing that we are unclear about this). Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this partially French movie! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has darkened. There is 4" of separation at the bottom of the vertical foldline and a 2" tear in the lower right border. There are pinholes and paper loss in the blank corners. Learn More about condition grades
