An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Autographed One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Black Caesar (also released as "Godfather of Harlem"), the 1973 Larry Cohen AIP New York black African American blaxploitation mobster action thriller ("Hail Caesar Godfather of Harlem!"; "...The Cat with .45 caliber Claws!"; "Written...by Larry Cohen") starring Fred Williamson, Minnie Gentry, Julius W. Harris, D'Urville Martin, Don Pedro Colley, Gloria Hendry, Art Lund, Val Avery, and Phillip Roye. Note that Larry Cohen had much success in TV in the 1960s, with many serious shows, including "The Defenders". In the early 1970s, he took a major shift in his writing focus, and he had great success with blaxploitation movies like "Black Caesar" and "Hell Up in Harlem", and then he shifted yet again in the early 1980s, directing and writing the "It's Alive" horror movies! Note that our consignor purchased this poster from us in 2005 (it was unbacked), and he had it professionally backed. It was consigned to us in 2005 by a man who worked in the movie industry, and he would acquire posters which he would have signed by celebrities he met in his work, and we are 100% certain the autograph is authentic! The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines (typical of high-gloss posters of this period).
