You may very well hate it. You may find it too shocking. But this, we guarantee... Viridiana will strike your senses like nothing else you have seen in a theatre!"; about a nun that opens up a house for the unfortunate, but the people she helps don't turn out to be very grateful; the film was the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix winner) starring Silvia Pinal (in the title role as Viridiana), Francisco Rabal, Fernando Rey, Jose Calvo, and Margarita Lozano. Note that Bunuel was invited back to Spain to make this film after decades of working abroad. The script was approved by the Spanish authorities with a few minor changes, but they had no opportunity to view the finished film before it played at the Cannes Film Festival where it won the Palme d'Or.
