Walter Slezak was a Austrian-born Jewish actor from the 1920s to the 1980s. He acted in a number of German movies in the 1920s and early 1930s, and he came to the U.S. and began making movies there in 1942. Some of his movies include: Lifeboat, The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm, Born to Kill, and Treasure Island. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 80.

Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Walter Slezak! Our consignor purchased a collection of signed photos that were acquired by a man named Fred Owesney. Mr. Owesney went to New York City in the late 1940s and got jobs in the theater, and during that time, he acquired signed photos from a number of the people he worked with. In the early 1950s, he moved back to Steubenville, Ohio, but he stayed in contact through the mail with many of the celebrities he had known in New York City, some of whom went on to significant careers, and he visited New York many times in the 1950s, and he saw shows and many of the celebrities he saw gave him signed photos, and he also acquired some signed photos through the mail. This is one of the photos from Mr. Owesney's collection. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature is surely authentic.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
