An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Ace in the Hole (also released as "The Big Carnival"), the classic 1951 Billy Wilder crime newspaper journalism film noir ("Written by Billy Wilder, Lesser Samuels and Walter Newman"; about a washed-up newspaperman who finds a man trapped in a cave-in and delays his rescue to get a better story!) starring Kirk Douglas, Jan Sterling, Robert Arthur (billed as "Bob Arthur"), Porter Hall, Frank Cady, and Richard Benedict. Most people believe that this movie was first released under the title "Ace in the Hole", but that when it was not very well received, the studio quickly created all new paper with the new title "The Big Carnival" (perhaps to confuse people as to the subject matter of the movie). Most collectors treat the movie paper with either title as "first release", but some collectors consider the material with "Ace in the Hole" to be less common, and therefore more desirable! The last time we auctioned a style B posters for this title was in 2006! Note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: very good. The poster has some clear tape in the lower corners (not put there for any restoration purpose) and a small tear in the lower right blank border.
