eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4a077 SHIP AHOY jumbo WC '42 sexiest full-length Eleanor Powell, sailor Red Skelton, Tommy Dorsey Date Sold 2/26/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Jumbo Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 16" x 25") (Learn More) Ship Ahoy, the 1942 Edward Buzzell World War II (WWII) Navy Naval sailor military spy espionage romantic musical mistaken identity screwball comedy ("MGM's Smash Musical Comedy Hit!"; about a novelist who takes a cruise to Puerto Rico to calm his nerves, and he gets involved with a singer who thinks she is smuggling for the U.S. government, but actually, she has been duped by spies, and then her bag gets mixed up with the novelist's!) starring Eleanor Powell, Red Skelton, Bert Lahr, Virginia O'Brien, Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra, Nestor Paiva, and Frank Sinatra (unbilled, with Tommy Dorsey's band). Note that the plot sounds really zany, and it was really just a device to allow for Tommy Dorsey to perform a lot of songs and for Eleanor Powell to dance, and young unbilled Frank Sinatra, in his second movie, and his first for MGM, gets to sing a song! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this jumbo window card is not "roll-able", because the paper is thick enough and it is fragile enough that rolling it would damage it. Therefore we will send it in a large flat package that measures approximately 18" x 27". Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Note that this window card has been trimmed and it now measures 16" x 25". Condition: poor. The right approximately 6" of the poster was neatly trimmed off, affecting Red Skelton's credit, the end of the title, and a part of the image (but fortunately, most of the wonderful sexy image of Eleanor Powell is unaffected, and none of the images of Red Skelton or Tommy Dorsey playing the trombone is affected). There are smudges and stains scattered in the card and the entire card has darkened. Please do not bid on this jumbo window card unless you can accept this very significant defect.
