Date Sold 3/5/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Red Mill, the 1927 Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle (billed as "William Goodrich", because of the scandal that ended his movie career) silent Holland romantic love triangle mistaken identity comedy (loosely based on the operetta by Victor Herbert & Henry Martyn Blossom; about a poor Dutch girl who is forced to work long hours in a tavern, and the owner's daughter is promised to an old rich man, and the Dutch girl switches places with the owner's daughter so that she can have some freedom, and then a handsome man falls for the girl thinking she is the owner's daughter!) starring Marion Davies, Owen Moore, Louise Fazenda, George Siegmann, Karl Dane, and Russ Powell. Note that many people remember star Marion Davies as being William Randolph Hearst's longtime lover and assume that she is like the second wife in Citizen Kane, a "no talent" that her rich boyfriend tried to help. In actuality, Davies was a great comedienne, and this is one of her best movies! Also note that director 'Fatty' Arbuckle had been a major star, but the well-publicized scandal with actress Virginia Rappe ended his acting career. But he continued to direct (he had directed some 70 movies during his acting career), and he directed another 48 movies, including this one. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
