An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff, the 1949 Charles Barton screwball horror comedy ("More Ghoulish glee... Than when they met Frankenstein!"; "Help") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Boris Karloff, Lenore Aubert, and Gar Moore. Note that this movie was originally titled "Easy Does It", and it was intended to be a Bob Hope comedy! However, the movie "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" had just come out and was a huge hit, and Universal reworked the script for Abbott & Costello, and changed the title to "Abbott and Costello Meet the Killers"! In that script, the lead villain was a FEMALE character named "Madame Switzer"! Five days before shooting began, Boris Karloff was hired, and the character became a swami, and the title of the movie was changed yet again, to include Boris Karloff's name! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). OR you can't see the restoration because it was so well done, but the poster had fairly significant defects. OR no restoration was performed, but the defects are not major, and restoration could be done to the poster without re-backing it. See below for its pre-restoration defects (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Poster had creases and some tears on some foldlines, and tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. It had very minor smudges and creases. The poster had missing pieces and tears in the blank borders, and the person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). Overall, the poster is well linenbacked, and the restored defects are not very noticeable. Learn More about condition grades
