An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) Let's Make Love, the 1960 George Cukor musical romantic mistaken identity comedy ("It's all about what you can't get enough of! [Fun! Joy! Laughter! And Love! Love! Love!]"; "Meet that man Montand! He's dedicated to the new Monroe Doctrine!"; "Written for the screen by Norman Krasna"; produced by Jerry Wald; about a billionaire who learns that he is going to be parodied in a stage play, and he pretends to be an actor so he can learn what the play is about, and while doing so, he falls in love with the beautiful star) starring Marilyn Monroe, Yves Montand, Tony Randall, Frankie Vaughan, Joe Besser, Wilfrid Hyde-White, and David Burns. Note that Gregory Peck was originally cast as the lead in this movie, but Marilyn Monroe's then-husband, Arthur Miller, re-wrote the script so that she had a bigger role, and that caused Peck to leave. The studio tried to hire Rock Hudson, but couldn't get him, and then they got Yves Montand, who was Marilyn Monroe's pick. That was especially unfortunate and ironic, because Monroe had an affair with him during the filming of the movie (after unsuccessfully attempting to have one with Frankie Vaughan). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Italian poster! Not only that, but our consignor, who is a major French collector, tells us that he purchased it 35 years ago, and that he has never seen it appear in any auction since, or offered for sale by anyone since (if anyone knows otherwise, please let us know). Also note that this Italian two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: good. The top section has stains on the back of the upper right, which bleeds through to the front and affects that image of Marilyn and the "OE" of "MONROE" beneath it. There are tears and paper loss in the left and right of the horizontal fold of the top section, affecting the letters of Marilyn Monroe's name. There is a lesser number of tears along the rest of the folds and a few small tears in the borders. Certainly, this ultra rare poster needs to be professionally backed, but once it is, it will display incredibly on the new owner's wall, and likely not require very much paint restoration.
