eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result p410 GIRL CRAZY linen one-sheet movie poster '43 Rooney, Judy Garland Date Sold 3/21/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Gershwin's Girl Crazy, the 1943 Norman Taurog romantic cowboy western musical ("The big musical with Broadway flair and a western air!"; "an entire score by George Gershwin, Nancy Walker, and Frances Rafferty"; "Music by George Gershwin"; "Lyrics by Ira Gershwin"; "Based upon musical play 'Girl Crazy' by Guy Bolton and Jack McGowan") starring Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Nancy Walker (before she gained fame in the "Rhoda" TV series!), Gil Stratton, Robert E. Strickland, 'Rags' Ragland, June Allyson, Guy Kibbee, and Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra. Note that this was an unusual combination of talents with Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, and Tommy Dorsey performing songs by George and Ira Gershwin, but all with a "Western air" (but with the usual "Broadway flair"). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not restorated at all. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had many small tears and small areas of paper loss down the vertical foldline and there was tape on the back of those areas. There were pinholes, tears, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can still see signs of the restoration down the top of the vertical foldline, even from a distance. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
