An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Charlie Chan in Rio, the 1941 Harry Lachman South America Rio De Janeiro Brazil Asian detective mystery crime thriller ("It's Chan's most spine-tingling mystery!"; "Based on the character 'Charlie Chan' created by Earl Derr Biggers") starring Sidney Toler (in the title role as Charlie Chan), Mary Beth Hughes, Cobina Wright Jr., Ted North, Victor Jory, Harold Huber, Victor Sen Yung (as Jimmy Chan), Richard Derr, Jacqueline Dalya, Kay Linaker, and Iris Wong. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned one example of this poster before and it sold for $416, and that was nine years ago! The poster had something attached to the face of it with glue all around the edges and some scattered glue throughout. Whatever it was was removed at some time but many glue stains remain (see our image). There is also paper loss near the middle and wear on the folds and borders. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept all the above. Learn More about condition grades
