An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Theodora Goes Wild, the 1936 Richard Boleslawski romantic comedy ("Gayest entertainment of the year!"; "Riotous romantic comedy!"; about a small town proper teacher who decides to write a romance novel, and when it becomes a best seller, she goes to New York and has many adventures) starring Irene Dunne (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Theodora Lynn), Melvyn Douglas, Thomas Mitchell, Thurston Hall, Rosalind Keith, Spring Byington, and Henry Kolker NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1936 first release half-sheet! Not only that, but the last time we auctioned a different first release poster was a one-sheet that we auctioned 18 years ago! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Finally, note that because this half-sheet was printed on a slightly heavier paper, it makes far more sense for it to be sent in a large flat package than rolled in a tube, because we are afraid that rolling it could cause damage to it, and we would hate for that to happen! We will only send it rolled in a tube if the buyer insists, and accepts full responsibility in case there is any damage to it. Condition: good. The poster has darkened somewhat, typical of Columbia posters of this period. It has many light creases and scuffs scattered throughout. It has tiny pinholes some tears around the edges, with paper loss in the top left blank corner and paper loss in the upper left border that extends into the edge of the image, and has a piece of paper tape behind it. While this very rare poster has significant defects, it can certainly be restored, but bear in mind its condition and look at our super-sized image before you bid on it.
