The Artist, the 2011 Michel Hazanavicius (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Hollywood silent movie movie-making romantic comedy melodrama (winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; it opens in 1927 Hollywood, when a great silent film star's career is about to end because of the beginning of sound, and a young female actress' career is about to take off, for the same reason, and how a chance interaction between them leads to their lives being intertwined) starring Jean Dujardin (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Berenice Bejo (winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), James Cromwell, Penelope Ann Miller, Malcolm McDowell, Missi Pyle, Beth Grant, Ed Lauter, Joel Murray, Ken Davitian, and John Goodman. Note that remarkably, this was a true silent film, with inter-titles, and while there is much music and sound effects, there are only a very few spoken words anywhere in the movie, and those are for comedic effect. The movie is a masterpiece and deservedly won the Best Picture Oscar!
