Date Sold 4/14/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) This Nude World (also released as "Back To Nature"), the 1933 Michael Mindlin nudist colony documentary ("Nudists of the World Greet You! Naked and Unashamed"; "Nature in the Raw is seldom mild! Nudists at home and abroad"; "An All-Talking Picture"; "Who are the nudists? What Do they do?"; "An Actual Motion Picture of the Cult the Whole World is Talking About!"; "Would you become a nudist if you had the chance?"; "Authentic trip through an American nudist colony!"; "Guaranteed the most educational film ever produced!"; "- Positively - for adults only") featuring Leo Donnelly, Dr. Gaston Durville, Kienne de Mongeot, Ilka Dieball, and Adolph Koch. Note that this movie opened in New York in 1933, and we believe the title at that time was "Back to Nature" (and certainly, it makes sense that 1933 audiences would not be shocked by the title "Back to Nature", but would be shocked by "This Nude World"). But the poster used had "The Story Of THIS NUDE WORLD" on it, and we think "This Nude World" was used as a subsequent alternate title (and it definitely was used decades later when the movie was revived as a cult classic). But the IMDb identifies the original title as "This Nude World" and "Back to Nature" as a re-release title, and we think they are absolutely wrong! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned a poster with what we think was the first release title of this movie "Back to Nature", and we think that one-sheet was from 1933, and it sold eleven years ago for $2,157. We believe that THIS poster is from the roadshow release of the movie after its initial 1933 release, likely from 1934 or 1935, when it was given the title of "This Nude World". However, this is just an educated guess, so we are just listing it as "1930s" until we get more accurate information! The IMDb says that This Nude World was the first release title (see above), so this could be from the first release, and of course it could be from a roadshow re-release from later in the 1930s. Both the Back to Nature one-sheet and this one-sheet are beyond rare! We have only auctioned the one example of the Back to Nature eleven years ago, and now we are auctioning this one-sheet for the very first time! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note also that this one-sheet measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]. Condition: good. The poster has small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of several folds, with some separation on parts of some folds. It has pinholes, stains, and some tears around the edges. There is uneven darkening in the top blank area (likely because there was once a snipe in the center of that area). After linenbacking by a talented professional, this incredibly rare poster will display wonderfully! Learn More about condition grades
