DIZZY DEAN/DAVID RUBINOFF DIZZY DEAN/DAVID RUBINOFF 8x10 OR search current auctions Auction History Result 4w1147 DIZZY DEAN/DAVID RUBINOFF 8x10.25 still 1930s Chicago Cubs baseball star & violinist switch! Date Sold 6/25/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Still (Learn More) Dizzy Dean was a former professional baseball sports pitcher, playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and the St. Louis Browns from 1930 to 1947. He was a four time All-Star, 1934 World Series champion, and went on to become a popular radio sports commentator (this was not without controversy, because Mr. Dean spoke very colloquially, and there was a movement to have him taken off the air, because he was a "bad influence" on kids, but America rallied behind him!). He passed away in 1974 at the age of 64 AND David Rubinoff was a Belarus-born violinist from the 1930s to the 1940s. He was on several radio programs, playing a Stradivarius violin (at the time, worth $100,000!). He passed away in 1986 at the age of 89. Important Added Info: Note that this great wacky publicity still shows the legendary baseball pitcher and the legendary violinist switching "instruments". What makes it especially funny is that Dizzy Dean is messing with Rubinoff's Stradivarius, and with a little more clowning, he might have damaged it! Condition: very good.
