Date Sold 8/4/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Group of 4 Original Vintage Newspapers (each measures 16" x 22 1/2" [41 x 57 cm]; 12 pages each) (Learn More) Rudolph Valentino was a legendary Italian actor from the 1910s to the 1920s. He was the original "Latin Lover". Some of his movies include: The Sheik, The Son of the Sheik, and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Sadly, Valentino passed away from peritonitis on August 23, 1926 at the age of 31, and at the height of his fame. Important Added Info: This auction is for four 12-page newspaper section that were removed from a bound volume of issues of the Muskogee Oklahoma Times-Democrat newspaper. Each section has a cover story about legendary silent star Rudolph Valentino's passing, at the height of his fame (and note that he was so popular, that they kept running stories on the front page for three more days after his passing). Note that many years ago, our consignor was at a newspaper that was disposing of their bound copies of very old newspapers. He had just a short time to go through and remove some that were of interest to him, and they were mostly ones that dealt with the death of major stars or of major events. He has consigned three newspapers he removed from bound volumes (one of them has four different newspapers within that auction), and we are currently auctioning them in three different auctions. We have only photographed portions of each paper, but of course, they are fascinating reading, and they have many really cool vintage ads as well! Note that these newspapers could not possibly be rolled, and they must be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 20" x 26", so bear this added expense in mind before bidding on these. Condition: good to very good. The newspapers were removed from a bound volume and are somewhat fragile. They have tiny paper loss down the left and tiny holes where they were bound into the bound volume. They are currently stored in a mylar sleeve and will be sent to the winning bidder that way in a large flat package. Learn More about condition grades
