15 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

The Mask (released in other English-speaking countries as "Eyes of Hell"), the 1961 Julian Roffman Canadian horror thriller ("This is the mask! You will be given one on entering the theatre. You will be told when to look through it."; "When you do, it will make you part of the desire-fuming brain of a monstrous genius of insanity. You will live with the living dead. You share what no living person has known before."; "...but you must put on The Mask"; "The greatest thrill since you first saw a picture move!"; "Look through your mask... If you can't take it... Take it off!"; "The management is not responsible for nervous breakdowns!"; "Only when you put on the Magic Mystic Mask will you know what can come off a movie screen*"; "*When you enter the theatre you will be given a mask. Be sure to look through it as directed. It is your key to a sensational new motion picture thrill!"; "...You may never get over what you see when you put on The Mask"; "Only the motion picture screen could bring you this brand new entertainment idea!"; "IMPORTANT!!! When you enter the theatre you will be handed a Magic Mystic Mask. Then each time the man in the picture puts on his mask - you look through yours - for the shock of your life!"; "This is from Dr. Barnes who didn't believe in the hypnotic evil of THE MASK until he put it on!"; "If the terror's too much for you ...The Mask has been especially designed for instant removal!"; this was a movie with a "William Castle-like" gimmick, which was a pair of glasses that you were supposed to wear during especially terrifying scenes, and which created a "depth dimension") starring Paul Stevens, Claudette Nevins, Bill Walker, Anne Collings, and Martin Lavut

Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 15 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So they are original stills from 1961, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
