An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Key Book Still (Learn More) Bob Hope (born Leslie Townes Hope) was an English-born top Hollywood comedian and actor from the 1930s to the 1990s. He was briefly a boxer in his youth (as Packy East), and that is where he acquired his distinctive ski-shaped nose. Some of his movies include: Story of G.I. Joe, The Cat and the Canary, The Ghost Breakers, My Favorite Blonde, and the "Road" movies he made with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour, including Road to Morocco. In spite of his great success, Hope never won an Oscar, although he hosted several of the Oscar telecasts! Hope was also well known outside of movies, especially for his entertaining of U.S. troops overseas, for his charity golf tournament, and his many hostings of the Oscar ceremonies. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 100. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Bob Hope! Note that this still is printed on a deluxe heavyweight paper stock (we think it is highly likely this was a key book still, and that someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still, no doubt so it could be put in a frame). Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of the items from this consignor we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic! Condition: good. The left border was neatly trimmed (see above). The bottom right corner (mostly blank white paper) was diagonally clipped off.
