8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Spartaco (released in the U.S. in 1914 as "Spartacus"), the 1913 Giovanni Enrico Vidali Italian silent historical Roman Empire gladiator melodrama ("Spartacus or The Revolt of the Gladiators"; "A Motion Picture Classic in 8 Parts") starring Mario Guaita-Ausonia (in the title role as Spartaco/Spartacus), Cristina Ruspoli, Enrico Bracci (as Marcus Licinius Crassus), Maria Gandini, and Luigi Mele. Note that this movie was made in Italy in 1913, and was released in the U.S. through "George Klein Attractions" the following year. Because the movies were silent, and had "inter-titles", it was extremely easy to substitute titles of a different language, allowing each movie to be shown in many different countries.
Important Added Info: Note that we can't say for certain that these cards are from the 1913 version of this movie, but it seems extremely likely. There was an earlier 1909 short of the same name, but it seems unlikely these would be from that short. We have auctioned a one sheet from the 1913 version, and the Spartacus from that poster looks like the Spartacus in these lobby cards! However, we don't think these cards could be from 1914 (when the 1913 movie was first released in the U.S.) It is far more likely they are from a late 1910s or early 1920s re-release of the movie (especially because the distributor [George Klein Attractions] was very prominent on the one sheet but there is no studio or distributor listed on any of these cards.) If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good to fine.
