An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 43 1/2" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) The Strange Door, the 1951 Joseph Pevney Universal horror thriller ("Robert Louis Stevenson's Masterpiece of Terror!"; "Not since Frankenstein and Dracula!"; "Based on Robert Louis Stevenson's Story 'The Sire de Maletroit's Door'") starring Charles Laughton, Boris Karloff, Sally Forrest, Richard Stapley, and Richard Wyler NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that I have seen a lot of Argentinean posters in my day, but this one surely gets my vote for the absolute strangest one ever! Not because of its image, but because it has an English tagline at top and all English writing throughout (including the title), which I have never ever seen on an Argentinean poster! It has had a lot of restoration (see below), but it seems 100% certain that the English language words were printed on the poster and not added (either painted on or cut and pasted in from another poster). We have seen many Spanish language posters that were printed in the U.S. for use with Spanish speaking audiences, and we suppose this poster could have been printed in English in Argentina for use with ENGLISH speaking audiences there, but if so, this is the first and only such poster we have seen. If anyone knows more about this strange poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good. The poster had all of its borders mostly trimmed off. The bottom 2" of the poster was trimmed off and the bottom small credits were re-created during the restoration process. There were many creases, small tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of some foldlines and there was a slightly diagonal cut running through the bottom of the title. The poster has had a lot of restoration, and while you can see signs of it from close up, from a reasonable viewing distance, the poster displays pretty well, but please don't bid on this poster unless you can accept its large amount of restoration!
