To those who know, the reason's clear; The longest laughs in town are here!"; "From the man who made you laugh with 'The Miracle of Morgan's Creek'"; about a man who can't serve in the military in World War II, and he is so embarrassed that he leaves town for the duration, and when the war ends, he tries to quietly return home, but he encounters a group of returning soldiers who take sympathy on him, and they arrange to deceive his entire town into thinking he was a major war hero!) starring Eddie Bracken, Ella Raines, William Demarest, Raymond Walburn, Franklin Pangborn, Elizabeth Patterson, and Bill Edwards. Note that first release movie posters from this Preston Sturges comedy are EXTREMELY rare! Perhaps this is related to the paper drives that occurred during World War II, or there could be another reason. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that SIX of these lobby cards have been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Eddie Bracken AND Ella Raines, and the remaining two cards were signed solely by Bracken (see our images)! Our consignor purchased these lobby cards (and several others, which are in separate auctions) from an estate sale of some of David Gest's belongings, including many lobby cards. Mr. Gest was a lobby card collector since the 1970s, and he was a close personal friend of Michael Jackson's (and later married to Liza Minnelli!), and he certainly had many opportunities to meet the celebrities who signed these cards, so we feel 100% certain that the autographs are genuine (but the auction house our consignor purchased them from did not issue certificates of authenticity). Condition: very good. The cards range from "very good" to "very good to fine", and it is really close to giving them an overall grade of "very good to fine". One of the cards had brown paper tape on the back of two borders that was partially removed. Otherwise, these cards are completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the others. Please look closely at our super-sized images to see the exact condition of each of these cards. Learn More about condition grades
