An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Fahrenheit 451, the classic 1966 Francois Truffaut English science fiction (sci-fi) dystopian romantic future thriller ("From the world-famed novel by Ray Bradbury"; "Aflame with the excitement and emotions of tomorrow!"; about a society where books are banned by the English government, and firemen burn books and start fires!; the movie centers around a fireman who doesn't fit in, and he encounters a group of rebel people, including a beautiful woman who looks exactly like his wife, which is not surprising, because Julie Christie plays both the rebel woman and his wife) starring Julie Christie ("Her first role since her Academy Award for 'Darling'"; sensational in a dual role as both Clarisse and Linda!), Oskar Werner ("Winner of the New York Critics Best Actor Award"), Cyril Cusack, Anton Diffring, Jeremy Spenser, Alex Scott, Mark Lester, and Bee Duffell (as the "book woman") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is the only American English language poster with this image (there are foreign posters with a similar image and also a Spanish/U.S. one-sheet with this image). This image of far superior to that of the regular U.S. one-sheet! The back of the poster is stamped "ENGLISH" and was intended for use by English speaking audiences in countries outside the U.S. (there would also have been a poster stamped "SPANISH" that was intended for non-English speaking audiences in countries outside the U.S.). Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds. There were tears and areas of paper loss on the right 8" of the bottom two crossfolds and there were tears and creases in the solid black area at bottom right. The top 2" of the poster was folded back at one time and there were many creases and smudges across the top edge of the image background with paper loss at the center of the top of the image background. There were tears and small areas of paper loss down the top 1/4 of the vertical foldline. The poster was well backed, but you can see signs of the restoration in the solid black background areas. It is not very distracting, and I would think most collectors would be happy to display this poster on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
