An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded One-Sheet (measures 27" x 40") (Learn More) Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, the classic 1965 Robert Wise (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) family musical (from the hit Broadway play by Rodgers & Hammerstein; "The happiest sound in all the world"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Julie Andrews (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; as Maria), Christopher Plummer (as Captain Von Trapp), Richard Haydn (as Max Detweiler), Peggy Wood (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Mother Abbess), Charmian Carr (as Liesl), Heather Menzies (as Louisa), Angela Cartwright (as Brigitta), The Bil Baird Marionettes, Eleanor Parker ("as The Baroness"), Duane Chase (as Kurt), Daniel Truhitte (as Rolfe), Nicholas Hammond, Debbie Turner, and Kym Karath NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Howard Terpning Important Added Info: Note that "pre-awards" one-sheets have a tagline at the top (in a black box) that reads "The happiest sound in all the world". While still in continuous first release and after it won 5 Academy Awards in 1965, new one-sheets were printed and that top tagline was replaced with "Winner of 5 Academy Awards Including The 'Best Picture Of Year'". The poster offered here is the pre-Awards one-sheet, which is much more desired by collectors. Some pre-awards one-sheets credit Todd-AO (below the guitar and above "Color by Deluxe"), and others do not. The ones that do not were created for theaters that could not show the 70mm Todd-AO version. Condition: good. creases and a few small tears around the edges of the poster; Other than the above basically minor defects, the poster is in quite nice condition! This poster is in "lesser" condition (what many dealers would describe as "good" or "good to very good", or in the case of posters with more serious defects, which should be easily seen on our large images, "fair")! It has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images (reading what we wrote and looking at the super-sized image should tell you right away whether it is in "good to very good", "good", or "fair" condition). We know that some collectors could accept this poster's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this poster if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this poster because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this poster offered again!
