An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Jumbo Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 21" x 28" [53 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Beau Geste, the 1926 Herbert Brenon silent French Foreign Legion military family relationship action adventure war thriller ("From the novel by Percival C. Wren"; about an Englishman who leaves England in disgrace and joins the French Foreign Legion, where his two brothers are serving, and they must deal with a sadistic sergeant and murderous Arabs) starring Ronald Colman (in the title role as Michael 'Beau' Geste; "By arrangement with Samuel Goldwyn"), Alice Joyce, Neil Hamilton (as Digby Geste), Noah Beery Sr. (as Sgt. Lejaune), Mary Brian, William Powell (as the Arab, Boldini!), Norman Trevor, Ralph Forbes (as John Geste), and Victor McLaglen. Note that this movie was remade in 1939, with Gary Cooper, Ray Milland, and Robert Preston as the three brothers, and Brian Donlevy as the sadistic sergeant. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1926 movie posters from this classic Ronald Colman movie are incredibly rare. We have previously auctioned a few window cards and another example of this poster, but NO other first release 1926 movie posters! Also note that jumbo window cards normally measured 22" x 28" and had a vertical format (they were like regular window cards, only much larger). On rare occasions, for major releases, studios would make special horizontal jumbo window cards. The one offered here for the 1926 "Beau Geste" is one of those. It measures 21" x 28", but it has not been trimmed. Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It has some minor smudges and scuffs around the edges. It has tiny pinholes in the corners and three near the middle of the poster, with one in the middle right. Someone put paint on the back of the top of the poster to advertise the times of another movie, but it does not affect the front at all. The poster is not at all fragile, and other than the above, it is in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
