An Undated (probably 1930s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Pace That Kills, the 1935 William A. O'Connor cocaine anti-drug propaganda thriller ("Keep this wolf from your door!"; "Destroyer of souls!"; "Senses drowned in forbidden pleasures"; "Adults Only!"; "Hollywood's newest smash hit - that has - Everything!"; "A Daring expose of jazz mad youth!"; "Tonight in heaven tomorrow in hell!"; "Astounding revelations of unguarded youth"; a really rabidly anti-drug "message" movie, with a gangster who goes around hooking people on cocaine, by having them snort what they think is a "headache remedy", and only after they are hopelessly hooked do they discover it was actually cocaine, and start on a one-way path to degradation and death!; in this movie, it is two teens who follow this path, a brother and sister, and they both become drug addicts, and the sister becomes a prostitute!) starring Lois January, Noel Madison, Dean Benton, Sheila Bromley (billed as "Sheila Manners"), and Frank Shannon. Note that this movie was a remake of the 1928 movie of the same name. There were "roadshow" releases in the late 1930s or early 1940s, with lured artwork posters, but not much image. In the 1960s, this movie was re-released under the title of "The Cocaine Fiends", and was often shown at midnight showings with the other 1930s drug classic "Reefer Madness"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this classic drug movie was first released in 1935 by Willis Kent Productions, and then played in small towns in a roadshow release (usually midnight shows) for several years. 1930s posters of any kind from this movie are extremely rare! This is one of the "Holy Grails" for collectors of movie paper from drug related movies! In 2008, we auctioned an undated 1930s re-release window card for $963. Now we are auctioning, for the first time, this undated 1930s re-release three-sheet, with a wonderful image and taglines! Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 3 sections designed to overlap. Condition: good. There is paper loss in the left and middle vertical folds near the bottom of the poster, within the image and tagline area (see our image). There are some creases and several tears along the foldlines that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded. There are some creases, smudges, and tiny tears on the other foldlines, and some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. There are a few tape repairs on the back. Certainly, this poster has some real defects, but any talented restorer can repair them during the linenbacking process, and afterwards, the poster will look incredible!
