An Original Vintage Folded One-Sheet Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More)

House of the Living Dead, the circa 1960s Spook Show horror theatrical stage show poster ("Direct from Hollywood"; "Dracula onstage in person"; "Alive!! A freak out of fright!"; "Dare you see it"; "Direct from Hollywood Frankenstein Monster"; "Plus...3 Scream Pictures!", indicating they also showed some movies, typical at spook shows). Note that this was a poster for a "spook show" of the 1960s ("spook shows" started in the 1930s, and continued into the late 1960s, with their greatest prominence in the late 1940s and 1950s). Local theaters would book three to five low budget movies, and then advertise them as a late night "spook show". Often they would have "live" acts on stage (sometimes famous actors who had appeared in monster movies would appear on stage in full make up, and sometimes it would be local actors dressed as monsters), and often the posters would make outrageous promises (sometimes they might say a person would be beheaded on stage, etc!). Not too many of these spook show posters survive. Note that a knowledgeable collector tells us that this poster was used by Dr. Silkini, a spook show performer who headlined Silkini's Asylum of Horrors and other shows.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned two examples of this poster before! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm].

Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded somewhat oddly, and it has creases along portions of the foldlines and edges and some scuffs scattered in various areas. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and after a simple linenbacking the poster will look great!
