Date Sold 11/24/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Movie Trade Ad (measures 8 1/4" x 10 1/2" [21 x 27 cm]; 9 pages; unfolds to 10 1/2" x 40") (Learn More) The Vanishing Shadow, the 1934 Lew Landers (billed as "Louis Friedlander") science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy crime mystery serial ("12 Smashing Chapters of ACTION! MYSTERY! and THRILLS!"; based on the story by Ella O'Neill; about an electrical engineer whose father was killed by a vicious gang, and he invents devices in order to try to smash the gang; some of his inventions include a "vanishing belt", which allows the wearer to become invisible, a robot, a ray gun, and many more!) starring Onslow Stevens, Ada Ince, William Desmond, Walter Miller, James Durkin, Richard Cramer, William Desmond, and Lee J. Cobb (uncredited in his first movie role!). Note that there were very few science fiction movies in the 1930s, and this is one that is rarely mentioned by poster collectors, likely because movie paper of any kind from it is unbelievably rare! It would be one of the hardest "holes" to fill in any sci-fi movie collection. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Kulz Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this cool trade ad, which measures 10 1/2" x 40" when unfolded, and has cool Kulz artwork of a giant robot on one side, and photographic images from the movie on the other! We imagine it was either produced as a standalone trade ad or was a fold-out from a magazine. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that the trade ad offered here was printed individually. It can be framed and displayed (but many trade ads have different images on each side, so one must choose which side to display if it is framed!). Condition: good. The trade ad was folded several times, and it is fragile along some of those folds. Someone put conservation tape over some of the separation. One section of the trade ad was glued to some sort of backing at one time (perhaps an album page), and when it was removed, it left some glue stains, paper remnants, and tiny bits of surface paper loss that slightly affects the other side of the ad (see our images). Please read our description above and look at our super-sized images before placing a bid on this trade ad. Learn More about condition grades
