Important Added Info: Note that Stanley Kubrick was legendary among directors for taking a REALLY long time to make each movie, and many of his best ones were delayed. This ad for 2001: A Space Odyssey, which has a completely different image from what was later used, ran in Box Office magazine on August 2, 1965, THREE years before the movie was released! We are auctioning solely the 2-page ad, which was removed from the magazine, and both the magazine and the ad are extremely rare! Note that we have seen two versions of this artwork, one was this trade ad and another was an unfolded poster. There are slight differences in size and art cropping between the trade ad and poster, which seems to confirm our theory that this artwork was available in two promotional forms.
