An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Edgar Allan Poe's The Mystery of Marie Roget, the 1942 Phil Rosen Universal Paris France crime horror murder mystery thriller (based on the Edgar Allan Poe story; this was Poe's sequel to "Murders in the Rue Morgue", so naturally, Universal tried to make a sequel to their own version of the earlier movie, and they used some of the actors who had appeared in "The Wolf Man" the previous year; this movie concerns the disappearance of a woman and the subsequent murder; one of the highlights of the movie is Maria Ouspenskaya doing much scene stealing as she had in "The Wolf Man") starring Maria Montez (in the title role as Marie Roget), Patric Knowles, Maria Ouspenskaya, John Litel, Edward Norris, Lloyd Corrigan, and Nell O'Day NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair. There is an area of paper loss in the title area at center as well as areas of tattering and small paper loss scattered throughout the poster (some crudely repaired with paper and tape from the back). There are many tack holes scattered around the edges of the poster, including some in the woman's dress at lower left. There is writing on the back of the poster that bleeds through to the front in the credits at lower center. There are creases throughout the poster from it being roughly handled at one time.
