The caves have been open to the public since 1828, and were used as a shelter for the people of Remouchamps during World War II (WWII). The underground river Rubicon flows through the caves and is navigable for 2,000 ft. Artist: O. Lieder Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. It appears the poster was never folded, but that it had some partial horizontal folds. It had paper loss in the lower left of the image, near the bottom of the rocks. It had some creases and scuffs scattered throughout the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
