An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/4" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Bathing Beauty, the 1944 George Sidney romantic aquatic swimming musical comedy ("M-G-M's mammoth Technicolor musical spectacle!") starring Red Skelton, Esther Williams, Basil Rathbone, Bill Goodwin, Ethel Smith, Jean Porter, Carlos Ramirez, Harry James & His Music Makers, Helen Forrest, Xavier Cugat & His Orchestra, and Lina Romay. Note that this was Esther Williams' first movie that focused on her great athletic swimming ability, and she was basically the star of the movie, even though she was second billed to much bigger star Red Skelton (and she was primarily the focus of all the movie advertising). Some R50s daybills have a snipe from the Orpheum theater, and a knowledgeable collector tells us that the theater's phone number on the snipe indicates the poster was created before 1952! Also, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is some tattering and paper loss around the edges of the poster and there are some creases scattered throughout from it being oddly folded at one time.
