A King in New York"; Chaplin was appalled by the McCarthy Hearings, and this movie is a satire on that, with a deposed king of an unnamed country coming to New York for asylum, but he is falsely accused of being a Communist!) starring Charlie Chaplin (billed here as 'Charles Chaplin'; in the title role as King Shahdov), Maxine Audley, Jerry Desmonde, Oliver Johnston, Dawn Addams, Michael Chaplin (son of Charlie!), Maxine Audley, and Harry Green NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and many creases along the folds, with a few small tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds. There were many pinholes around the edges and stains in the lower right, in Addams' arm and below that. There are two small areas of paper loss in Chaplin's cheek by his ear and one in his lower lip. There are yellow tape stains in the bottom edge of much of the center of the bottom border. Someone mounted the poster onto a very thin linen and then re-folded it. It obviously should be removed from the thin linen and properly backed and restored, so bear that expense in mind before placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
