An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Rough House Rosie, the 1927 Frank R. Strayer silent boxing sports romantic comedy ("Story by Nunnally Johnson"; about a girl who wants to be a Broadway actress, but fails, and then she tries to mix with rich society people, and that doesn't work out either, but she ends up in love with a champion boxer, and at one point, she performs in a dancing/boxing nightclub act, and she helps her boyfriend win the championship by distracting his opponent with her sexy eyes!) starring Clara Bow (in the title role as Rosie O'Reilly), Reed Howes, Arthur Housman (as professional gambler "Kid Farrell"), Doris Hill, Douglas Gilmore, and John Miljan. Note that Clara Bow was the most famous "flapper girl" of the mid to late 1920s (she became known as "The It Girl" after the character she played based on the popular novel by Elinor Glyn). She had a major role in Wings, and was Paramount's biggest star at that time. But she had a notorious private life and seemingly "settled down" when she married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 (she had two children and she retired from movies), but sadly in 1949 she went into a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt (she had had psychiatric issues for quite some time) and she was released but never returned to her family, and lived alone until her death in 1965. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was created at a time in 1927 when Paramount was experimenting with their one-sheets. They created some one-sheets with blank areas at the bottom where the theater could either print information about the show times (like with window cards), or they could provide information about what else they were showing that day, or any other information that they wanted to provide. This was solely done for some 1927 Paramount movies and no others. This poster is one of those special one-sheets from that time (see our image). Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a few tiny dots of paper loss on small parts of some foldlines. It had pinholes and some small paper loss in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
