An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Hard, Fast, and Beautiful, the 1951 Ida Lupino tennis sports family relationship romantic melodrama ("'The things she had to do... The lies she had to tell... The love-affair she had to hide... These were the price of fame in the big-time tennis racket.'"; "'I can make you a champion!'"; "The price of fame in the big-time sports racket!"; "'We can use a champion!'"; based on the novel by John R. Tunis; about the mother of a female tennis prodigy, and she sees a chance to have success through her daughter that she never had in her own life, and a ruthless promoter encourages her to do so) starring Claire Trevor, Sally Forrest, Carleton G. Young, Robert Clarke, Kenneth Patterson, and Macella Cisney. Note that Hollywood star Ida Lupino had much success in the 1930s and 1940s, but she then turned to directing, and she made some excellent B-movies, including this one. Had she been given bigger budgets, she might have made some real masterpieces! Note that this movie has an artificial "happy ending" that was forced on the female, similar to the situation that existed with Orson Welles and The Magnificent Ambersons! Important Added Info: Note that we have been told that the artist behind this poster is likely Mario Zamparelli, who created many posters for RKO in the 1950s. However, while the poster resembles his style, we cannot be certain. If anyone has definitive proof of who the artist is, please e-mail us. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a diagonal crease in the top right corner. It had minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well, but the poster is slightly "lifting" in the center of the bottom border (any restorer could easily re-glue that area without re-backing the poster).
