She is best remembered as Commander Uhura from the Star Trek TV series and movies. She had intended to quit Star Trek after the first season (because southern stations were refusing to air it, and it was hurting the show's ratings), but she met with Martin Luther King, who told her how great it was that she was on the show, because it showed his kids a non-stereotyped black woman, and she reconsidered and stayed on the show. Some of her other roles include: The Torturer, Are We There Yet, Snow Dogs, and Mister Buddwing. She passed away in 2022 at the age of 89. Important Added Info: Note that this color Polaroid photo has been personally autographed (signed) by Nichelle Nichols! It was taken by a fan at a collectibles show, and then he had Miss Nichols autograph it. Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer.
