All answer the call. Helped by the young lions, the old lion defies his foes."; "Enlist now.") encouraging men to join the military, and featuring Arthur Wardle art of a male lion standing on a rocky outcrop with four young lions below him. Note that this poster shows the 'old lion' of Britain surrounded by the 'young lions' of the British Empire - Australia, Canada, India and New Zealand. Thousands of men and women from these countries volunteered to fight alongside Britain during the Great War. Artist: Arthur Wardle Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It has several tears of varying lengths and paper loss at bottom (see our image) and some of the tears are very fragile. A large portion of the art is intact and otherwise in pretty nice condition, but the poster is in need of restoration. Certainly a top restorer can repair the defects described above, and after, the poster will display really well, but please bear in mind the poster's defects and the cost of restoration before placing a bid.
