Songs!"; "The Sensational Broadway Musical!"; "What a Cast!"; "Brilliant cast of entertainers"' one of the first major all-black movies from a major studio, intended to be shown to both white and black audiences) starring Ethel Waters ("Famed Torch Singer"), Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson ( "Funnier Than Ever"), Lena Horne ("Gorgeous Song-Bird"), Louis Armstrong, Rex Ingram (as Lucifer Jr.), Duke Ellington & His Orchestra, The Hall Johnson Choir, Willie Best, Mantan Moreland, Kenneth Spencer, John William Sublett (as Bubbles), Ford Washington Lee (as Buck), and Oscar Polk.
