An Undated (probably 1980s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded French "Petite" Movie Poster (measures 15 3/4" x 21 1/4" [40 x 54 cm]) (Learn More) King Creole, the 1958 Michael Curtiz New York City Coney Island tough-kid-leaves-the-slums-but-can't-escape-his-past rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) musical (based on the novel 'A Stone for Danny Fisher' by Harold Robbins) starring Elvis Presley (as Danny Fisher), Carolyn Jones, Walter Matthau, Dolores Hart, Dean Jagger, Vic Morrow, Liliane Montevecchi, and Paul Stewart. Note that this was the fourth of four movies that Elvis made before he went into the Army in 1958. He made no movies in 1959, and the public so wanted to see one that Paramount gave this movie and Loving You a full scale double-bill re-release just one and two years after they were made, with new posters for each, and the tagline "Elvis Presley back on the screen for the first time in a year"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Jean Mascii Important Added Info: Note that this poster was distributed by Rene Chateau, who made videos in France at this time, but this is NOT a video poster! We have spoken with a leading French poster expert about this poster, and he tells us that he spoke with Rene Chateau (the owner of Rene Chateau Video, the original distributor of this poster), who says that "video" is part of his company name but that all of his posters are theatrical posters. Please bid knowing that this poster is a THEATRICAL poster, not a video poster. In addition, there are two versions of the poster. One has a black panther logo in the lower left corner while the other has an eagle logo in the lower left corner. The eagle logo is for the first issue of this reissue poster in 1978, and the black panther logo is a logo he switched to a few months later because in France, the eagle is associated with Napoleon, and he did not want that association! The poster we are offering here contains the black panther logo and while it is dated "1978", it is likely from a 1980s re-release. Also note that this poster was folded across the middle at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. There are scuff marks in the title at lower center that appear to be from a printing defect. The poster is otherwise in very nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
