Date Sold 8/1/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1942 Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Gambling Lady, the 1934 Archie Mayo romantic gambling melodrama ("She played a man's game with the heart of a woman!"; a preposterous plot of a crooked gambling casino owner's daughter, who takes over, and runs it honestly, attracting lots of rich people, but earning the animosity of the mob, and the love of a rich young man, but can he forgive her past?) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Joel McCrea, Pat O'Brien, Claire Dodd, C. Aubrey Smith, Philip Reed, and Robert Barrat NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release posters and lobby cards from this title are INCREDIBLY rare! In my many years of full-time movie poster selling, I have only sold one first release lobby card from this movie, which sold for $732, and in my 40+ years of collecting movie posters, I don't believe I have ever seen a single poster from this movie before other than an original insert, which I sold in 2007! One would prefer to have an original release item, but given their extreme scarcity, one should consider "settling" for this re-release lobby card, with a great image of three of the top stars (and even items from this 1942 re-release are also scarce!). Also, note that often Warner Bros. lobby cards from this period that have a flat finish are re-releases, while cards with a "linen" finish are first releases, but in the case of this movie (and Bordertown), the reverse is true! The first release cards predate the linen cards and have a flat finish, and both movies were re-released during the linen period, so the re-release cards have a linen finish. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has darkened, typical of Warner Bros. linen lobby cards of this period. There is a tape repair on the back of the center of the top and right borders. There is a small tear in the right of the bottom border. The card is very lightly rippled due to exposure to moisture. Learn More about condition grades
