A 1951 Realart Re-release Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. This wonderful card had a 3/4" tear in the center of the top border, extending into the green background area. There was a 1/2" tear in the upper right blank border. There was paper loss in the bottom right blank corner and paper loss in the bottom left corner extending into the edge of the image area. There were some tiny bits of paper loss, creases, and smudges in the blank borders. There was a horizontal crease 1" down from the top left border running across to just left of the monster's head. There was another horizontal crease 2" below that running through the monster's hand, and ending at around the same point. Some really talented restorer performed restoration to the above areas WITHOUT backing the card! Looking at the back of the card, you can see most of the defects described above, but from the front, they are barely noticeable at all. There has been some faint paint restoration in the blank borders, to "even them out", but it is really not very noticeable. The card displays really well, but please do not bid on this card unless you have carefully read the above, and understand exactly what restoration this card has had!
