An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Spanish Movie Poster (measures 26 3/4" x 38 3/4" [68 x 98 cm]) (Learn More) El bello durmiente (released in the U.S. as "The Beautiful Dreamer"), the 1952 Gilberto Martinez Solares Mexican prehistoric caveman fantasy comedy starring German Valdes (billed as "Tin-Tan"), Lilia del Valle, Wolf Ruvinskis, Marcelo Chavez, and Juan Garcia Artist: Ernesto Garcia Cabral Important Added Info: Note that this is not only a poster with wonderful Cabral art, but it also might be one of the most unusual Tarzan-related posters ever! We have auctioned the Mexican poster from this, and it is smaller, and is extremely similar to this poster, but it lacks the tagline that reads "Bisabuelo de Tarzan", which translates to "Great Grandfather of Tarzan". No doubt the Edgar Rice Burroughs people, who are incredibly protective of Tarzan, saw the poster and threatened to sue, which caused them to redo the poster without that tagline. We have never seen another example of this poster, and it surely deserves to be in a Tarzan collector's hands (or possibly in the collection of someone who collects posters by Cabral)! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: poor to fair. Unfortunately, the poster has significant issues. Most importantly, it has paper loss in the bottom of the artwork (in the girl's arm), and also in the bottom corners (we could supply a high quality scan of the very similar Mexican poster to the buyer that would greatly help a restorer). It also has pinholes and tears around the edges, with paper loss and tears in the girl's face, with a tear extending from the left of her face down into her shoulder. The poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration.
