An Undated (probably 1930s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Meet the Wife, the 1931 Leslie Pearce romantic love triangle bigamy comedy ("Shocking and shrieking! Gay and audacious!"; "From the play by Lynn Starling"; produced by Al Christie; a variation on the "Enoch Arden" theme, where a woman who is a widow marries an English lord, but then her first husband turns up alive, which causes all kinds of complications) starring Laura La Plante, Lew Cody, Joan Marsh, Harry Myers, Claud Allister, and William Janney. Note that there is an oddity about this movie! We have seen a lobby card that simply says "COLUMBIA PICTURES", but without a Columbia logo, and then others with the Columbia logo, and there is a different title card from each version. We are thinking that the ones with the Columbia logo are from a very early re-release (which Columbia did a lot in 1933 and 1934), and that the one without the logo is from the 1931 first release, but that is just a guess. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good to very good. The card has slightly darkened, typical of Columbia lobby cards of this period. There are faint scuffs scattered throughout the card, but they are mostly only noticeable when the card is tilted to the light. There is a tack hole in each right corner and tiny creases in each blank corner. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
