eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 6h0171 IT insert 1927 wonderful image of sexy poor shopgirl Clara Bow holding toys, ultra rare! Date Sold 4/14/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) It, the 1927 Clarence G. Badger silent romantic sex appeal comedy ("Story and adaptation by Elinor Glynn"; from the then-scandalous novel by Elinor Glyn; about a poor shopgirl who falls in love with her rich employer) starring Clara Bow, Antonio Moreno, William Austin, Gary Cooper (in a bit part as a reporter), and Priscilla Bonner. Note that this movie was not much different from Clara Bow's other movies of the time, but it had one of the all time great advertising campaigns ever for a single movie, where the "It" of the title referred to a sort of sex appeal, and the public was told that Clara Bow had more of "It" than any other actress, and they bought into that, and the movie was a huge success! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that posters from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two window cards from this movie, and NO other posters of any kind, until we received this great insert, which has a great full-length image of Clara Bow that works so much better in the insert format than it would on any of the other posters (except possibly a three-sheet)! Note that because this poster is nearly 100 years old and is valuable, we don't want to roll the poster in a tube, because we believe that rolling it could lessen its condition, so we will send it in a large flat package that measures approximately 16" x 38". If the winning bidder specifically requests it, we will roll this poster, but the new buyer will have to accept responsibility if there is any damage caused by rolling it. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded and is surprisingly not very fragile at all (but it still must be handled carefully, given its age). It has slight darkening in the outer edges of each blank border, likely because it was once framed. It only has one unusual defect. It appears that some theater that used this poster put glitter over the two letters of the title, and they likely put glue over the interior of each letter and then sprinkled glitter on it. The glitter is long gone, but the glue stains remain, and the coloring of both letters is uneven. This wonderful poster can certainly be displayed and enjoyed exactly as it is, or one might choose to have restoration performed to the letters of the title, surely without backing the poster, because it doesn't need to be backed.
