An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (measures 19" x 26 3/4") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock romantic crime mystery thriller ("It's a web of romance and suspense that spins you from delight to danger - then spirals to an explosive climax on the fabulous Riviera!"; "Based on the novel by David Dodge"; "Screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; about a retired jewel thief living on the Riviera, and there is a string of daring jewel robberies, so naturally, he is the lead suspect, and he decides to find the true thief himself, and he is aided by a beautiful rich young woman and her mother!) starring Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis, John Williams, Charles Vanel, Brigitte Auber, Rene Blancard, Georgette Anys, and Jean Martinelli. Note that Cary Grant had announced his retirement from movies in 1953, but he was lured out of retirement by Hitchcock to make this one. Also note that Jessie Royce Landis, who had played Grant's mother in "North by Northwest", this time played his potential mother-in-law, and yet, she was only eight years older than Grant, who had aged very well! Important Added Info: Note that this Italian photobusta measures 19" x 26 3/4" and that it is linenbacked. Condition: fine. This poster was linenbacked and during the backing process, its defects were repaired and it now looks great! See below for its pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). fine. There are a few extremely minor scuffs within the lower portion of the image area, but overall this poster was in excellent condition prior to linenbacking. It should be noted there are a series of punch holes in the middle of the bottom border (below the credits) that form three numbers. This was typical of Italian photobustas of this era, and they are often in the image area, so it is quite nice that they are completely out of the image and credits.
